3-Alarm Fire – 6200blk Springhill Ct – 13 June 2005

Shortly after the squad cleared an accident on the capital beltway, the box alarm was struck for the 6200 block of Springhill Court for the apartment fire.  After some initial confusion the squad was allowed to run the box, which brought Engine Co.’s 11, 35, 31, and 9, Truck 12, Tower 7, Squads 1 and 14.  While enroute communications advised the units that Greenbelt City PD were on the scene with a fire on the 3rd floor.  First arriving unit Engine 112 found fire that started in a terrace level apartment and extended to the third floor.  The squad arrived on scene and started performing searches in the fire building.

Due to fire being on three floors and extending to the exposure building, a second alarm was dispatched.  Volunteer Chief 14B (Kitchen) had command of the exposure building as crews worked on knocking the fire.  Command called for the 3rd alarm to assist with overhaul and knocking hot spots.  Truck 14 made it to the scene shortly after the third alarm to assist the squad.  Truck 14, Squad 14, and Chief 14B cleared at 1930.
